Be Enlightened – Psalm 119:130

Spread the love

This one scripture has come up more than a few times this last couple of weeks. I could be reading an article or watching a Christian program, listening to Christian radio and it’s mentioned. I say to myself, “Ok Lord you are speaking to me.” This scripture reads as: ” The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” I first noticed the word [entrance]. We have heard the saying about things entering in through the eye-gate or the ear-gate. Things we see and hear that could affect us in life. It could be good or bad. Things that stay with us because we have given attention to it or opened ourselves up to it.
To go into a building, you need to enter the doors, to go into it. Now stay with me on this.
The second word I noticed was [thy words]. The writer of this psalms was communicating with God. He realized that hearing the words of God or heeding the instructions of God’s [words] brought him insight. I looked up the word [insight] and here is the difinition: Perception; intuition; understanding.

  1. The ability to discern the true nature of a situation, especially by intuition.
  2. A perception produced by this ability.

In this scripture the word [simple] is not calling a person stupid, it just means you have not caught on or can’t see it yet. It has not come to you or been revealed to you yet. You don’t have the understanding yet. But when words penetrate so deeply by hearing them over and over your perceptions become clearer and you can understand.

God desires for us to know Him. How do we get to know Him? We do this by hearing and reading and studying his Words. Let them enter our hearts and let them reveal to us who He is, how He loves and understand the character of Him. When we read His [word] we become enlightened.

Now getting back to how this conversation relates to the books. Remember in the first book how the Queen Pearl addressed Prince Emerald and Princess Ruby just before they begin their journey outside of the kingdom walls. She said to them to “Remember that everyone benefits when there is light” She also told them that she hoped that each of them would choose to be a shining light outside the walls of the kingdom. The word choose means that they had a choice to make, to go out there and be the light in a dark world.

Then later in book 2 of the series Princess Ruby recalls that conversation with her aunt the Queen and she was enlighten, her eyes could see and know what her aunt was telling her. (She could now understand.) The darkness needs the light to overcome. Ruby realized that she could be a light to the very people that was trying to hurt her and to the others around her. The way Princess Ruby wanted to do that was to show them the love of their Creator who they did not know of. This Psalm is one of the longest chapters in the bible and the writer was saying if you read on past verse 130, he asked his creator to direct his steps by his [words]. He knew he was loved, and he loved his creator. It was the directions from his words that enlighten him and gave him clarity. So, get understanding and let His light enter by His words. Read the bible.
